Disney Nerd

For as long as I can remember I've loved Disney.
I grew up watching Disney movies.
I've been to Disneyland every year since I was 2.
So it only seems natural that Disney is one of my favorite things to think about.
Here's my plan:
1. I get a job at Disneyland (preferably as a face character, like Belle or Rapunzel? But any job would be nice)
2. I find a handsome male co-worker who has a great personality (maybe the boy who's Peter Pan or Flynn Rider?)
3. I convert that co-worker to the gospel, unless he's already LDS
4. We get married
5. And live happily ever after!

This plan has formulated in my brain as a result of my constant thinking of Disney. I have been to Disneyland every year since I was 2, but we're not going this year. So I've had to be extra obsessed to make up for it. Disney has been the only thing on my mind for the past week or so.

You kids.

I don't like the kids who swear
and flip people off
Or dress immodestly
Even though they go to church every Sunday
Really? Chillun, I disappointed in you.

I do like the kids who still gasp when there's a swear word in a movie
or change the radio station when a bad song is on
I do like the kids who post scriptures on facebook
I do like the kids who show their standards and follow them
That's why I like my friends.

Things That Never Die

These Things Can Never Die
Charles Dickens (1812-1870)

The pure, the bright, the beautiful
That stirred our hearts in youth,
The impulses to wordless prayer,
The streams of love and truth,
The longing after something lost,
The spirit's yearning cry.
The striving after better hopes;
These things can never die.

The timid hand stretched forth to aid
A sister in her need,
A kindly word in grief's dark hour
That proves a friend indeed;
The plea for mercy softly breathed,
When justice threatens high.
The sorrow of a contrite heart;
These things shall never die.

Let nothing pass, for every hand
Must find some work to do,
Lose not a chance to waken love;
Be firm and just and true.
So shall a light that cannot fade
Beam on thee from on high,
And angel voices say to thee,
These things can never die.

A kindly word in grief's dark hour
That proves a friend indeed

The plea for mercy softly breathed,
When justice threatens high.

Lose not a chance to waken love
