So the typical Monday starts off good! Monday's are late starts so I get to sleep in a bit... yeah. Instead of school starting at 7:30 school starts at 8:00! WOOOOO! My school, is pretty cool. It's not really the trendiest, newest school in the world, but I like it!
All of the outside doors don't open all the way, so it's a bit of a surprise when you try to fling them open.
There's a rumored "freshman bump" somewhere in the halls (a bump in the carpet that tends to trip freshmen up since they've never been inside the school and are not familiar with the interior design) but I've never found it.
The commons are the place to be during the passing period. Unfortunately, it makes it difficult to get from one half of the school to the next, elbowing, and pushing people in your way and no one can hear your "Excuse me"s.
There's an elevator in my school! Since there are stairs, it makes it inconvenient for anyone with a wheelchair or crutches so if you talk to the office you can get a key to the elevator and take it up or down! I've actually been on it, because on the first day of school this girl who's kind of my friend I guess had a broken leg so she was like "Let's go try the elevator!" so we did. It was a thrill.
Then there's this hallway behind the locker rooms, skinniest hallway ever built in the world. It's like a slot canyon, no joke. It's also not very well lit, so it reminds me of a dark alleyway where druggies and murderers congregate, but it's usually couple back there snuggling after school. Awkward when you need to get through since the hallway is pretty much only wide enough for one person.
The new gym we have, nicknamed "The Thunderdome" is pretty great. Large, full of bleachers and an indoor track. Good stuff. But it's really separated from the rest of the school, unless you have a class in the Industrial hall, then you'd pass by it every other day.
Our school has three main parts. Upper classrooms, lower classrooms, and Industrial hall classrooms. That is why on your schedule you will find either an U, L or I next to your classroom number. No one ever told me what those letters stood for, so I was dearly confused. Example: U-26. Ha. That means you would climb up the stairs and find room 26. Understand? That's ok. You may never step inside my school if you are a stranger reading this.
Football field: astro turf. Also used for soccer. Fake grass infused with the stuff they put over tracks? Yeah. It's funky.
Some of the desks in our school are a bit old, so they're really small and squish only your right arm. I'm guessing they were made for right-handed people. Bleck.
There's a little courtyard, called the atrium but we aren't allowed in there. Who knows why? But there's like table and chairs in there and it looks really pretty.
