Disney Nerd

For as long as I can remember I've loved Disney.
I grew up watching Disney movies.
I've been to Disneyland every year since I was 2.
So it only seems natural that Disney is one of my favorite things to think about.
Here's my plan:
1. I get a job at Disneyland (preferably as a face character, like Belle or Rapunzel? But any job would be nice)
2. I find a handsome male co-worker who has a great personality (maybe the boy who's Peter Pan or Flynn Rider?)
3. I convert that co-worker to the gospel, unless he's already LDS
4. We get married
5. And live happily ever after!

This plan has formulated in my brain as a result of my constant thinking of Disney. I have been to Disneyland every year since I was 2, but we're not going this year. So I've had to be extra obsessed to make up for it. Disney has been the only thing on my mind for the past week or so.

You kids.

I don't like the kids who swear
and flip people off
Or dress immodestly
Even though they go to church every Sunday
Really? Chillun, I disappointed in you.

I do like the kids who still gasp when there's a swear word in a movie
or change the radio station when a bad song is on
I do like the kids who post scriptures on facebook
I do like the kids who show their standards and follow them
That's why I like my friends.

Things That Never Die

These Things Can Never Die
Charles Dickens (1812-1870)

The pure, the bright, the beautiful
That stirred our hearts in youth,
The impulses to wordless prayer,
The streams of love and truth,
The longing after something lost,
The spirit's yearning cry.
The striving after better hopes;
These things can never die.

The timid hand stretched forth to aid
A sister in her need,
A kindly word in grief's dark hour
That proves a friend indeed;
The plea for mercy softly breathed,
When justice threatens high.
The sorrow of a contrite heart;
These things shall never die.

Let nothing pass, for every hand
Must find some work to do,
Lose not a chance to waken love;
Be firm and just and true.
So shall a light that cannot fade
Beam on thee from on high,
And angel voices say to thee,
These things can never die.

A kindly word in grief's dark hour
That proves a friend indeed

The plea for mercy softly breathed,
When justice threatens high.

Lose not a chance to waken love

Put it Off

You know when you think you can put something off forever and end up just forgetting about it because it'd work out?

Well yeah.
I thought I could do that with the AP World summer homework essays.

I thought wrong.

I'm 2 essays away from straight A- s!

Wizard of Oz

We (the Mia Maids) are going with a Wizard of Oz theme for our upcoming YW in Excellence, and guess what? I get credit for coming up with the idea! I kinda stole it from here, but we came up with most of our own ideas. So I've been looking up quotes from it all morning, because there's a possibility that I'm going to have to give a talk (Thank you fellow Mia Maids for volunteering me for that). Anywho, here they are. I like them a lot

“My world, my world... How can such a good little girl like you destroy all of my beautiful wickedness.
-Wicked Witch of the North”

“A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others”

“You have plenty of courage, I am sure," answered Oz. "All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have in plenty.”

“No matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live there than in any other country, be it ever so beautiful. There is no place like home.”

“To 'know Thyself' is considered quite an accomplishment.”

I'm on Top of the World ay!

This. This song is what's been going through my head.
I've been on a lucky streak for the past little while, which is weird, cause I feel like I'm the most unlucky person in the world, but you never know other people's problems so I can't truthfully judge. Anywho.
So during the summer I tried out for the Timpview soccer team...
And I made the freshman/sophomore team! I love my team. They're really nice and funny. And ahhh they're just the best soccer team I've ever had!
The bus can be a party

And this last picture (above) is after our most recent game at Lone Peak. We won 3-1! I used to think I had this jinx, where every game I played in, I lost or tied. (cause it was true til last Monday) And every BYU women's soccer game I went to, it rained (which was true til last Saturday!). My jinx is broken! Woooooooo!
Also, I got talked into trying out for the school musical this year (Hello Dolly) and my audition was horrible, I forgot a line of my song and didn't even go to the dance auditions (because I had a soccer game), but the call back list came out and my name was on it! So I went to call backs and those went decently... and yesterday the cast list came out. My name was under the women's chorus section! I'm so ecstatic! It's gonna be a blast. And I'm gonna be busy. Major.

School

School is getting very very close.
This is the last Saturday before school starts.
I'm not ready to start caring about what I dress like!
I've been dressing in soccer shorts and t-shirts all summer.
Oh dear.

Reminiscence

On February 4, 2012 I wrote a blog post about summer and this is what I said:
"Also, it's a season when my house isn't constantly cold!"
LIES. My house will just always be cold.
For the past hour or less, I've been looking at my old playlists from Playlist.com. I rediscovered 2 favorite songs! "Piece of my Heart" by Janis Joplin and "Like You Do" by Angel Taylor, which can be found if you click here.
I do love looking at old blog posts.
You may not know this about me, but I write in my journal EVERY toastin' DAY. So I can look back on my blog posts like this one and then look at my journal and see WHY my day was so good.
Or I can look at this post and be like...

  1. Yup. I definitely had my birthday. Now I just want to be 16. Poo.
  2. Yup. I went to Girl's Camp! It was a blast and a half!
  3. Yup. Youth Conference was a bit underwhelming, but still fun!
  4. Yes. I did go to Oregon!
  5. Yah! I did to to soccer camp! And it was INTENSE.
  6. Yes, I have gone to many night games this summer. Maybe too many.
  7. Swim team... I was a bit busy, but I went when I could!
Something to go along with the journaling everyday thing... I am absolutely OBSESSED at looking at entries from exactly a year ago. The days don't always exactly match up (like Sunday August 5, 2012 = Friday August 5, 2011 so I didn't go to church on a Friday) But still.
Today I went to Timpview (on my BIKE! WOO!) to change my schedule. It was an adventure. I love my bike to bits.

Make my Day!

You know what makes my day?
Getting a haircut and new school clothes in the same day.
Hallelujah.
Also, yesterday I went to Cherry Hill with my friend and cousins
today I went shopping
tomorrow's mutual! We're going to Culinary Craft (catering place)
I sense it will be a good week.

See that?

See that tab to the right of this post that says "100 book challenge"? Well the idea was to read 100 books in 1 year.
I read 21.
Bahahaha! Impressive... I think the problem was that during the school year I got uber busy. And tired of reading (thank yooouu 9th grade honors english and Miss Adams)
Also, on fast Sunday I tend to only see the food pictures on pinterest.
It's not good.

Pictures

I have decided I like to blog with pictures. Therefore:
What if I did my journal like this? It would be fun, but oh-so-hard, and oh-so-amazing!

I have been thinking of reading Harry Potter again. Weird how something so simple symbolizes something so big right?

I also need to watch the movies.

I reeeeaalllly like this typography and colors/doodles/patterns

What could be happier than piano stairs?
I wanted this to be a colorful post, but no so much eh?

Somewhat Homesick

I am/have been/will be in Cannon Beach, Oregon for a week and a half (Sunday June 24 through Wednesday July 4) I'm actually sitting on the couch in my room in the beach house right now. I am watching A.N.T. Farm. It's been great, and I'm somewhat sad we're leaving the beach house tomorrow, but I miss Provo. I miss the dry air and the mountains. I miss my terra cotta colored brick house with all the crickets and spiders in it.I miss my friends (I have my hilar cousins here, but it's not the same). Oregon is great though! I love the beach, the humidity, all the trees and (last but not least) the hipsters. I love the giant yellow-gray beach house and the freaking amazing view I have from my room! 6 days down 3-5 more to go (it's still not official when we're getting home. Could be Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday)

I've found my new addiction. . .

For the Memories

"Life should be simple and everyone should act like the inner dork they really are. I like swimming, walking home from school, reading, soccer, 80s music, 70s music, roller skating, dresses and whistling! I am LDS and I love it. P.S. Don't worry, be happy! And don't punch people. Where is the love? If you can't find it, pin a rose on your nose."

New Post

I was reluctant to click the new post button, but I did it. And now here I am! Summer is suh-weet. But today, I woke up at 6:00 and couldn't fall back asleep. Force of habit I guess. So the first thing I did when I woke up today, was watch Phantom of the Opera! I can't get enough. But I've only seen the 2011 version. I MUST SEE MORE.
Now here are some fun prints/pictures for your enjoyment.

So yup. I'm in love with life right now.

Phantom of the Opera

Today in choir we watched part of the 25th anniversary Phantom of the Opera musical. I had never seen it. I am now a bit obsessed! Right now, as I'm attempting to do my homework I'm listening to the music in the background, AND LIFE HAS NEVER BEEN SWEETER. This day, Monday May 21st 2012, started off badly. But it got better. MUCH butter.

What time is it?

SUMMER TIME!
Why is so close, yet so far? I need summer. I need summer to be longer!

I'm very excited for night games with the wardies :), Oregon, Youth Conference, Girl's Camp (SUPER HEROES!!!), late night plays at the Scera Shell, watching outdoor movies (namely Nancy Drew, High School Musical, Indiana Jones etc etc), BYU summer soccer camp, reading lots of books, swim team, hiking, taking spontaneous pictures, biking, KFC, watermelon, cooking and sewing at G-mas, doing summer homework (ha. maybe not so much), snow cones from surf 'n' slurp (and Hokulia, dill pickle flavored), sleepovers, swimming, playing with friends, finding out my schedule, playing (and getting better at) ultimate frisbee, football, running, rolling across the park, dressing in dresses, buying dresses, going on loooots of D.I. runs with my cousies, soccer practice, being a spaz, being a dorkfork, being an awkotaco, going to the library, catching up on sleep, making smoothies, peaches, bonfires, mutual!!, and lotso more stuff. I'm hoping this summer's going to equal (or congruent) to last summer's rock o meter. The rock o meter goes to 10. Last summer was pretty much a 9.5. Sha. Because last summer... I found out my ward was pretty great. I'm pretty sure I've said that like 50 bazillion times, but it's true. You wish you were in my ward. But ever since summer has ended... my rock o meter has gone down.
